Can Victor Ortiz grind down Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather vs Ortiz will face each other on September 17, 2011 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This is for the title belt of Victor Ortiz. Mayweather has had it relatively easy with wins over a smaller, slower Juan Manuel Marquez in 2009, and then a shot 38-year-old Shane Mosley last year in May. It’s going to be much different against Ortiz, as he’s on his way up to the top of the hill and isn’t on the downward slide the way that Mosley and Marquez were when they took on Mayweather.

Ortiz has got the power advantage in this fight, as well as an advantage in work rate. Ortiz showed in his last fight against Andre Berto that he’s capable of getting in close and throwing a lot of shots. Whether Ortiz can do the same to Mayweather is going to be the test here. Mayweather is hard to get near, because he tends to slide around and pick his opponents apart on the way in.

However, if Ortiz is able to establish some inside ground on Mayweather, we could see Ortiz really work Mayweather over with short powerful punches to the head and body. Even Mayweather’s excellent shoulder rolls have their limitations against a fighter that is unloading mass artillery shots the way that Ortiz was against Berto in his last fight. If you are all excited to Watch Mayweather vs Ortiz then stay tuned on this blog for more updates.

Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz Bout Preview

Mayweather vs Ortiz fight has great potential to be a memorable night of boxing and to be a great, important fight in the sport. Prior to the big fight night of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Victor Ortiz on September 17, 2011, you might want to watch the great fights of the two boxers and to compare their styles and fighting skills inside the ring. I see how really vicious is Ortiz and the fight between these will be very explosive. Aside from this I also want an Ortiz vs. Maidana rematch. I think he deserves another fight to recover from that big lost. Now what will be the appearance of the Mayweather vs. Ortiz fight well I think Ortiz will really strong punches to Mayweather and it will be an exciting exchange of counter punches. His opponent got a ferocious southpaw that might deliver a blazing end for him. Well, Mayweather vs. Ortiz is really an interesting match and I guess every Pacquiao fan will want to see this fight. I am really excited now. Be sure to be on hand for the fight on Saturday, September 17, to see how it all shakes out.

Mayweather started beating his sparring sessions

Mayweather vs Ortiz
At the start of his training this month the controversial Floyd Mayweather Jr. began his intensive training face to face some of his sparring partners. His uncle-trainer, Roger Mayweather, proud to say that he beaten and bruised one his spartmate in the hands of Mayweather. His sparring partner was Kasiim Ouam a veteran, and a former champion 154 pounds. Floyd has been a professional for nearly 15 years and has been in bigger fights than the Ortiz duel. Roger confirmed that Floyd had been working with four other partners. I asked him if Lil’ Floyd has been putting a beating on them. Asked if the preparation for the dangerous southpaw has seen them do anything special, Roger played such thoughts down. In September 17, Mayweather vs Ortiz will foght for the WBC welterweight championship will be held at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada. According to the trainer, nothing changes in the training allegedly Floyd Jr. because I knew it would. The Ortiz vs Mayweather fight, dubbed as Star Power will be televised via HBO pay-per-view.

Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz

Mayweather vs Ortiz
Undefeated Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (40-0-0) is scheduled to fight newly crowned World Boxing Council Welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-2-2) on September 17, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Mayweather vs Ortiz fight, dubbed as Star Power will be televised via HBO pay-per-view. Floyd Mayweather Jr with his slick boxing skills controlling his opponents every move as if he was a puppet master but Floyd dont need no strings instead he makes his opponents confused and takes their confidence away from them making them very cautious, this works very well against many top fighters as they are so used to being dominant they forget what it’s like to after fight out of their skin to win fights, but will this work with Victor Ortiz he makes a career out of fighting out of his skin its what’s won him the WBC Welterweight strap in his most recent fight against the also undefeated Andre Berto let’s take a look at why Victor Ortiz is a well suited fighter to take Floyd to the depths for a win. It only shows that Victor Ortiz will not go down without a fight and if ever he will crushed Floyd Mayweather and win this fight. As we all know that Victor Ortiz must fight beyond the level of Floyd Mayweather Jr. to win the Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz match.

After Shane Mosley they consider Marquez

Talks are already rife about Pacquiao’s next fight penciled for November possibly against Mexico’s master counter-puncher, Juan Manuel Marquez, in case Floyd Mayweather finally wakes up one day realizing that it’s about time to face the Filipino sporting icon. But assuming Mayweather remains deaf and callous to the public clamor, Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum has already somebody in mind to close out 2011 with a bang.

Still, even if a script is already made for the next move, an unforeseen circumstance lurks behind, something that should put everything upside. A hundred miles away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, Shane Mosley is plotting the destruction of boxing’s premier attraction when they finally come face-to-face and mano-a-mano on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Holed out in Big Bear, nestled in the San Bernardino mountains that is almost 8,000 feet above sea level, Mosley has been training since early-March as though he would be up not only against Pacquiao but against the gazillions of Pacquiao fans.

“You just have to keep going, and going and going (in training),” said Mosley from his high-altitude training camp, his voice oozing with heightened optimism.

Even Arum sounds a bit concerned of what a cagey veteran like Mosley can bring to the ring.

“Shane can take a good shot and he is so resilient,” said Arum.

Obviously, Pacquiao realized very early that despite the lackluster ending of Mosley’s last two fights, taking him for granted is tantamount to giving the other guy an advantage.

Pure Power can Dominate Pacquiao

Shane Mosley opened his training camp in Big Bear, California to the media on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) and declared he has the power to stop Manny Pacquiao. "My energy is great, at a very high level. I have a lot of power in both hands. I know Pacquiao will go right to the attack which is a great advantage for me. "I know how difficult this fight is. Pacquiao fires punches from all kinds of angles, is on his toes during late rounds and gives you different looks. "But pure power can take over all of that. I know I will be able to get good hard punches onto Pacquiao," Mosley. Mosley fought Floyd Mayweather Jr.. May last year and lost a unanimous decision. He also figured in a sluggish draw with Sergio Mora last September. He expressed confidence he would beat Pacquiao in their May 7 (May 8 in Manila) fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mosley (46-6-1, 39 knockouts) built his case around the point of how he made his name as "Sugar" Shane, smashing smaller foes during his nine-bout run as a world lightweight champion, projecting that he’ll be able to duplicate similar strategies 12 years later against the dominant but smaller Pacquiao. Due to highly expected Pacquiao versus Mosley clash, all tickets has been sold-out the fight held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Manny Sparring Session to Start Today

Trainer Freddie Roach said he’s looking forward to the first day of Manny Pacquiao’s sparring with Shawn Porter and David Rodela on Tuesday afternoon. The Pacquiao vs Mosley fight will happen on May 7, 2011 on MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roach and Pacquiao were scheduled to train Saturday afternoon at the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque, but the pound-for-pound king didn’t make it to workout. Team Pacquiao left its high-altitude training camp in the Pines City so Pacquiao can grace the annual Elorde Boxing Awards. Pacquiao and Roach were still at the event around midnight of Friday since they were requested by the Elorde family to stay for a while and watch some fights.

Pacquiao and Roach are staying in Baguio until Friday as they are scheduled to leave for the US this Saturday for the most crucial phase of the training. Another batch of sparmates await Pacquiao at the Wild Card in Hollywood, according to Roach, who is also tapping prospect Omar Henry. Roach said Mosley, despite him being a crafty fighter as well, can be outboxed, as shown by what Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto did to him.

Mayweather weathered an early storm and dominated Mosley en route to a lopsided decision in May last year, while Cotto scored a unanimous but close decision win over him in November 2007. Roach said Mosley’s strength surfaces whenever he is up against a fighter who comes at him and he knows very well not to fall into that trap. While Pacquiao is the type of guy who thrives in exchanging power blows, Roach said he will tweak his fighter’s style a little bit to suit their gameplan. Pacquiao in 100% condition

Pacquiao vs Margarito

Pacquiao vs Margarito

The weather was pleasant for Paquiao’s morning run. His dog “Pacman” and Team Pacquiao members joined the champion. A few rounds around the park got Manny into a good sweat. The usual quick shadow boxing routine followed. Pacquiao vs Margarito will face each other on November 14, 2010.

It’s sparring day, so Pacquiao just did the flat route at Pan Pacific Park, just 30 minutes to save up for the sparring in the afternoon. The confidence of Pacquiao is evident even after a hard workout. He likes to keep the humor within the team. Pacquiao feels excellent, having gone down from 154 pounds in Baguio to a weight he is more comfortable with--148 pounds to not more than 150 pounds.

When I was in Baguio, I bulked up in weight. I was so heavy, I was moving sluggishly, so I decided to stay at 148 to 149 pounds,” he said. And even if Margarito will have more than a 10-pound advantage on fight night, this doesn’t worry Pacquiao as long as he has his speed.

It’s better even if I’m lighter but faster… I will easily see Margarito’s movements and punches. After a nap, Pacquiao had an intense afternoon workout at the gym. In seven rounds of sparring, the first 4 with the 6-footer Rashad Halloway, Pacquiao used his quickness to get to the body.

Three rounds more with the taller and heavier David Rodela also saw Manny dominate. Coach Freddie Roach couldn’t be more pleased at where the champ is. He said Pacquiao had a complete turnaround and is now exactly at the condition they need to win. Roach has no doubt Pacquiao will score another resounding victory.

“We are going to beat this guy,” said Roach.

I’m eager to fight because I got what I want, 100% condition, said Pacquiao.

The Pinoy Pacman is back on track, ready to take on the next challenge on the ring: Mexico’s Tijuana Tornado. Watch Pacquiao vs Margarito Online this November 14, 2010 only on HBO Pay-Per-View.

Margarito, Mexican 13th victim of Pacman?

Pacquiao vs Margarito

Pacquiao vs Margarito

On Sunday, November 14, the former three-time world champion Antonio Margarito long-thirteen Mexican boxer encounter of 7-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. Two days before the WBC super welterweight championship fight, sumptuous variety of predictions and the speculations from boxing experts. Pacquiao vs Margarito will face each other on November 14, 2010.

In addition to the fight predictions, betting odds therein is also where the latest in America, at -500 for Pacquiao and +350 for Margarito.

In the camp of the Mexican boxer, proud of coach Robert Garcia allegedly prepared to keep pace with his speed and care to the alleged strength of the fist of Filipino ring icon.

Margarito itself be said that part of his game plan is to keep up with Pacquiao.

"This time I have no excuses. I will beat Pacquiao and Mexico will have a new world champion. It's a battle of pride for me. A lot has been said by Both of us and I'm ready to finish this fight with my arms raised. Most Mexicans will support me and I Plural picnic this fight, "insisted by Margarito.

But if the legendary coach of Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach is asked, might not have said a second round takes the fight to the groom mapapabagsak called "The Tornado" Margarito that.

"Do not be surprised if this fight ends in the first round," said Roach. Watch Pacquiao vs Margarito Online this November 14, 2010 only on HBO Pay-Per-View.

Watch Pacquiao vs Margarito Fight

Pacquiao vs Margarito

Pacquiao vs Margarito

Watch Pacquiao vs Margarito Online for the biggest boxing match this year. The Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will face Mexico’s Antonio Margarito on November 13. Over the last year or so the interest that has surrounded this possible bout has been unseen in the boxing world for a long time; we all want to know how Lost will end, but absolutely everyone wants to know who will come out on top in this battle. I’ve spent the last few days studying both fighters, from Pacquiao’s fights with Cotto and Clottey, the suspension of license of Margarito caught using illegal hand wraps, to Floyd’s unanimous decision over Mosley and a dramatic win of Cotto against Foreman. Now with the welterweight division as good as cleared out, with just Pacquiao and Margarito truly left to argue for the best welterweights in the worlds and no.1 welterweight crown, surely, they MUST be on a collision course to fight as the hype, pressure and expectation for the two to meet up is so huge, that the money involved would be too much to ignore? You'd certainly hope so, and without playing any blame game as to who's fault it is for the fight not happening, all I hope for is that they can both set aside their differences and make the fight happen, as we have not had the potential for such a huge fight since the days of Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler. As to how I would see a Pacquaio vs Margarito fight going down, I'm leaning slightly towards Pacquiao in a close and epic encounter. I believe that Pacquiao defense, footwork, speed and counter punching skill would be the deciding factor, with Pacquiaos explosive speed, power and amazing stamina giving Margarito a hard time early on and having moments throughout, with Margarito ultimately pulling out enough to get the win. The main reason that I see this happening is because Pacquiao hasn't fought a true boxer since Juan Manuel Marquez, and whilst I think Manny has improved alot since then, Margarito should have enough to be able to outbox him. Pacquiao vs Margarito on November 13

Pacquiao vs MargaritoThe unexpected fight happens but the expected fight never happen. That is why my colleagues told me “expect the unexpected”. When Top Rank promoter Bob Arum confirmed the Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will face Mexico’s Antonio Margarito on November 13. Over the last year or so the interest that has surrounded this possible bout has been unseen in the boxing world for a long time; we all want to know how Lost will end, but absolutely everyone wants to know who will come out on top in this battle. I've spent the last few days studying both fighters, from Pacquiao's fights with Cotto and Clottey, the suspension of license of Margarito caught using illegal hand wraps, to Floyd's unanimous decision over Mosley and a dramatic win of Cotto against Foreman. I’ve picked apart their styles and finally managed to conclude my thoughts on this fight. Not everyone will agree with my thoughts, but that is boxing and that is what makes this fight so interesting. Arum said that Manny Pacquiao picked Margarito over Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto, whom Pacquiao pummeled in the 12th round last November, because it would be a more challenging fight than fighting Miguel Cotto in a rematch and they see it not marketable anymore. Pacquiao will face Margarito for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight championship in Las Vegas if the Mexican is able to get a license to fight in Nevada. And if Pacquiao beat Margarito, he will become the 1st boxer to win 8 world titles in 8 divisions. As we all know, the contrast in style between the two fighters is huge, with Manny being a gung-ho offensive master and Margarito is big, strong chin, aggressive style, good punching power, good offensive skills, tough and determined. This clash of styles is what's making this possible bout so interesting and hard to predict. Both fighters have their flaws and both fighters have had trouble against similar fighters to each other. I'm going to stick my neck out and say how I think this fight is going to pan out, some of you may already know who I'm backing for this fight but I think it's important that everyone backs up their predictions with thoughts and reasoning. I'm not going to pick a winner, or a result, who knows how things will turn out in the ring on November 13, 2010, but all the ingredients are there for this Pacquiao vs Margarito mega-fight, now its all up to the two men, Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito when they step into the ring to give us something we've seen in the past and bring it back to the present. Anyways, this scheduled bout will be aired on HBO PPV.

Mayweather-Mosley can they get a fireworks

It's April and like most that enjoy Boxing at the highest level I too am excited by the fact that Mayweather vs Mosley is approaching. If you're a fight fan of a certain age you've been wanting this showdown for years, you even tucked it away in your "it will happen too late file," next to Hopkins and Jones. Thanks to the timeless wonder that is Mosley, the fight is not only viable but some could say the winner enters a possible battle with Manny Pacquiao as the recognized "man" at 147. We will argue and debate the merits of both champions for the next month and some of us in the media will become notorious "flip floppers." I stand guilty as charged; I've flipped more than John Kerry in the last month and on all social media platforms! Since you, the fan, deserve more, deserve men of conviction and knowledge who can provide perspective, I've come up with a solution to this dilemma of faulty "Intel" and conviction. And trust me, I'm doing this because I love ya'll -and also because the only person I can think of who can match me for hot air is me.

Remember a slugger like Cotto was able to outbox Shane and make him look ineffective in cutting off the ring. Cotto! How in the world is Shane going to play high speed chess with the Bobby Fischer of Boxing?!? How Martin? Floyd is the deluxe version of everything Shane tried to be; not only is Shane's suit “off the rack," but his ideas on how to attack Mayweather may be just as unimaginative. The only thing Shane will provide Floyd with is a platform to show the boxing world that he can get nasty and put a tough guy out of his misery. If Cotto is accurate enough to bust him up with combinations, Floyd is sure to paint a masterpiece on Mosley with relative ease.

Floyd likes to take an opponent's losses and chime that this figure is the number of "ways" to beat him. Shane's loses may add up to 5, but only 3 men beat him and none of them utilized a passive-aggressive style. Winky Wright and Vernon Forrest, 5' 11" and 6' 0" may have boxed but they came forward behind stiff jabs and gave Shane something to think about when he got aggressive. They showed him they were the bigger men, so how does a guy who took 10 rounds to dispatch a smaller foe (Hatton) running at him with his chin stuck out have the "stones" to come forward on Shane? Even Oscar, (5' 11") in 2003 in my opinion beat him -but I'd take that version of Oscar to beat Floyd! Miguel Cotto came forward, engaging Mosley and putting his punches together but by the end of the evening was doing his own Boricua version of the shoulder roll. Factor in Floyd's "scheduling" and you have a great talent who is mentally unprepared to deal with resistance and that ain't good against a genuine tough guy like Mosley.

Genius is so captivating that it engraves a unique "signature" style into our psyche and when the geniuses evolve -we find it hard to see them as they are. When Jordan was winning with post-up fade always, we still assumed he dunked on everybody. When Ali started standing flat-footed and hitting harder, we still believed he stung like a bee. It's natural and it takes a while to wash off. Floyd Mayweather is not as mobile as he was at 135 and 140 and the idea that he can avoid Shane Mosley and just "outbox" him is based on a 2001 fight we all recorded in VHS. He is a better boxer, but Shane is the better "fighter" and there will be moments on May 1st when Floyd will have to fight his way out of a jam, and that's exactly what Mosley is counting on. Remember, one man "had" to take this fight and the other man "wanted" this fight, and inspiration beats obligation every time.

Barely a month to go before the welterweight clash between compatriots Sugar Shane Mosley (46-5-0, 39 KOs) and Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather Jr. (40-0-0, 25 KOs), boxing pundits still don’t have a clear consensus about who has the upper hand in this very intriguing bout. Here, we are going to examine closely the possibilities, as well as the positives and negatives of either fighter. Hopefully after reading this piece, you, my beloved readers could come up with an educated guess as to who will come out victorious.

Let’s start our discussion with the tale of the tape. The undefeated Mayweather is listed at 5’8” with a 72-inch reach. Throughout his entire professional boxing career, the man they call “Pretty Boy”, “Money”, and at times “Chickenjoy” or “Gayweather” has enjoyed the effective reach advantage in all but one of his bouts. Six-division champ “Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya was his only opponent who had an effective reach advantage over him. “Sugar” Shane Mosley, on the other hand, stands 5’9”, with a 2-inch reach advantage over Mayweather. Judging from the tale of the tape alone, not to mention the fact that Mosley is a relatively far more established welterweight than Mayweather is, then common sense dictates that the 38-year-old fighter out of California should have his hands raised at the end of the bout. But before all you anti-Mayweather fans start rejoicing, take note that the key word there is “alone”. There are still several factors to consider, which we will tackle later on in this piece.

Speed is another important parameter to reflect on. Mosley is known for his incredible hand speed, but his opponent is not bad in this area, either. Conversely, Mayweather is known for his vast foot speed, which is however not among Mosley’s strong points, especially at this point of his boxing career. Both pugs are accurate punchers, but Mayweather’s uncanny ability to elude his opponent, together with a knack for creating angles for his counterpunches, the flamboyant Grand Rapids, Michigan native should have an advantage in this department.

The line separating victory and defeat generally depends on Mosley’s ability to cut the ring and impose his will on his very elusive opponent. Mosley’s jab will also prove to be a crucial factor to keep Mayweather at bay and give him problems unloading his own offensive. Mosley has two choices. He can basically rely on his effective reach advantage and wait for Mayweather to come in, hoping that the judges will grant him the benefit of the doubt if exchanges should ensue… or he can bring the fight to Mayweather and perhaps go for a knockout, not leaving any chances for the judges to take the fight away from him, knowing fully well that these people would certainly want the much anticipated Pacquiao-Mayweather encounter to push through.
