Day 31

Trick or Treat/Pass Out Candy
Tonight's the night! Where pumpkin's scream in the dead of night, and tricks and treats come out to play! Everyday this month has been building to this and I couldn't be more excited. Tonight I dressed up in my third costume of the season as Little Dead Riding Hood (get it?) We had so many trick or treaters in our neighborhood. Just driving down the streets you saw hundreds of them all from our community. It felt magical.
I started the night passing out candy. Don't laugh, but I honestly got a little teared up seeing out first trick or treater and how cute they were with their mom. It brings back great memories and I can't wait til I have kids of my own to take one day.
Later I left to go to the Lloyd brothers house for dancing, scary stories, and trick or treating! I personally don't believe trick or treating has any age boundaries, as long as you dress up and respect the game. It was so great to go actually since I hadn't in 7 years or so. We went as a group with a community bag which actually made it seem fairer.

Some of us were looking pretty scary!

It might be the last day of the month, but Halloween will always come back around. I will leave this blog up to reflect on. Thank you to everyone who participated in 31 Days of Halloween, and to everyone who followed this blog. It has truly been an amazing month. I've had so much fun and have made so many memories. Thank you.
Happy Halloween!

Day 30

Costume Party
This is it, this big night where everyone busts out their Halloween costumes! Well maybe not everyone; Halloween being on a Sunday this year however, many people celebrated and threw their costume parties today. Tonight we celebrated at my best friend Shannon's annual Halloween party. Earlier the month before a few of us thought it would be fun to dress together in theme. We came up with an old toys/game theme and created these ensembles...
Cabbage patch kid, Princess Lolly from Candyland, and Jeanette Chipmunk!!!!
It took me a while to commit to the Candyland costume, but once I did it was sooooo much fun!
After buying the perfect dress, I bought a large dollar amount worth of candy and go to work. I actually sewed lollipops, gummi bears, and candy butterflies onto my dress! I also made the most delicious crown out of candy and bought plenty of lollipops and other candy jewelry. The make-up was fun to do too. I gave myself purple eyebrows and glued on candy dots to my face. I think I tasted pretty sweet! It was a lot of work to put together but so worth it all. And Allison and Shannon's costumes were just perfect for our theme as well!
Here are some of the highlights.

Day 29

Horror Movies
Horror movies to me are different from scary movies in that they aren't usually scary. Slasher, horror, or gory movies can be suspenseful, but mostly they are just fun or cheesy. But I still love them, even if they are mostly blood and guts.
hhhhhhhhhhhhh
Tonight I watched Saw V. I'm not sure how good of an idea this was since I've only seen one other Saw film (the fourth I believe). I don't know what it is, but this franchise just keeps going. V wasn't very good, but that's usually the fun in most horror movies for me. Nothing like popcorn, spare time, and a bad movie that's supposed to be scary but gives you some laughs!
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

After Saw I caught Halloween: H20 on TV. Here's the shocker; I've never seen any of the Halloween movies! I think that's a scary movie buff no no. I hope to be fully educated on this franchise some day, even though I've heard it keeps on going as well.

~our spooky front porch~

Well, I gave the witch legs a try and they turned out "ok"
But I wasn't completely happy with them, so onto plan B.
I found this life size skeleton at a garage sale
this past summer and thought he would make a great prop
in my black urn on the porch.
We are now officially ready for trick or treaters!
If you remember, I made the dead and breakfast sign out of old wood I had laying around.
The skeleton is surrounded by a pumpkin garland
I picked up at Pottery Barn kids a few years ago.
The kids' carved pumpkins surround the base of the urn.
I also added a huge spider web with some giant furry spiders.

And of course added some faux crows here and there.

It's pretty spooky, but still kid friendly! :)

Wishing you all a happy and safe Halloween!

Day 27

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1 Marathon

I LOVE this girl. She was who I wanted to be in 8th grade. Perfect hair and make-up, great style, witty commentary, and an infinity for battling darkness. And dang could she fight! Plus their school had the coolest library. Did anyone ever notice how kind of weird all their names were? Buffy, Xander, Willow, Cordelia, Angel? You just gotta love the 90's :) I stopped watching after Angel left and got his own show, but would occasionally watch a Buffy/Angel crossover episode. To this day I'm still Buffy and Angel forever!

Day 26

Carve Pumpkins

One of the most Halloweenish things to do is to carve a pumpkin! I headed out to the pumpkin patch with two of my girls to pick the perfect pumpkin. I brought my baby Rosco with me too! I was so excited to be there, and the atmosphere was so classic Halloween that I started skipping around the patch. I immediately found the perfect pumpkin with the perfect face. It ended up being over 32 pounds!

After the the pumpkin patch, we got to work on carving.
I quickly realized that I've never actually carved m
y own pumpkin before as my 32 pounder gave me some trouble. It was a lot of work! But we had a great time carving, laughing, listening to music, and eating pizza!
Hours later and look what I created! We did these free hand. My pumpkin had the perfect face for Jack, who is actually surprisingly hard to draw. Vicky did a sunmoon with clouds. Delightful!
